Create professional quality scale models from site topography and architectural CAD.

Our team was responsible for polishing and producing scale models for all of the firm’s projects. The workflow moved from model cleanup and correction in Rhino 7 to print segmentation for multicolor and multimaterial 3D Printing. When necessary, our team collected topographical data, sliced the data in Rhino, and laser cut the model terrain to reflect the geography.

Models could vary from individual building components—facades, gates, windows—to multi-neighborhood developments. In all such cases, extreme attention to detail was required to ensure all models aligned correctly—ensuring a properly representational fit. Layer alignment for the laser cuts required millimeter precision even on our largest 81 square-foot model.
